Dance Explorers After-School Program
Adventure into Dance!

|
If you've ever felt limited by your child's after-school options--especially when it comes to extracurriculars--we've got exciting news:
Dance Explorers has expanded beyond PS 889! The program now has a second location at Urbane Arts Club to accomodate overflow from PS 889 and students from PS 130 and PS 139 as well. We have a few openings this spring at Urbane Arts Club. See below for registration details. With less and less funding allocated to the arts in schools, after-school enrichment that includes dance is becoming more and more important for child development. Programs like ours offer opportunities for physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development where other activities only provide outlets for a few of those. Our Dance Explorers After-School Program fosters creativity, joy, confidence, connection, and community. Through dance, we explore who we are, why we dance, and the people and cultures who have developed the spectrum of dance styles enjoyed throughout the world. Technical warm-ups build strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, poise, and body awareness. Creative projects and film study help us to experience styles and cultures that may be new to us. |
For every adventure into a new genre of dance, we explore what it is, where it came from, and what makes it special.
As in summer camps, our explorers are working on choreography as well as technique, making their own props and sets, and diving into visual history as well. With rehearsals for performances at Flatbush Frolic, the Church Ave Street Fair, and even Dance Parade included, the program provides a perfect complement to studio classes for kids who want to do more performing but lack the time for outside-of-class rehearsals.
What Parents are Saying:
My child loves Dance Explorers! It’s opened a world of dance and a joy in learning and performing. Since starting after school (which is being expanded to serve 889, 139, and 130) she’s had so many opportunities to participate in classes, rehearsals, and performances from Nutcracker to Dance Parade. I highly recommend Alden Moves.

Our daughter has been with Aden Moves Dance Theater from kindergarten through 3rd grade, and it’s been a great fit for her creative, free-spirited personality. Ballet wasn’t quite her thing, but she loved the variety and improvisation in the summer camps and Dance Explorers after-school program. Over the years, she’s gained confidence, especially on stage, and discovered what kinds of dance she enjoys most. The supportive environment has helped her grow both as a dancer and a person. Highly recommend!
