Adventure into Dance!
This Winter Break, young dancers will embark on a bold adventure into dance through some of the world’s most evocative orchestral suites. From planetary mysteries to seasonal shifts, icy swans to mountain trolls, each day invites dancers to dive into a new world of sound, story, and style. With a mix of technique, creative movement, dance history, and imaginative set/prop design, every camper—new or experienced—will journey home with new skills, friendships, and inspiration. Winter Break Camps are limited to 9 students, who typically work in a single group throughout the day. Each day, we'll use movement and music to journey through theme-based activities including a dance class, costume and prop design, dance composition, and other theme-specific enrichment activities. Schedule & ThemesTuesday "Space Odyssey: The Planets": ages 4-7
Explore the dramatic sounds of Gustav Holst’s The Planets through space-themed choreography, otherworldly design projects, and planetary movement prompts. Expect bold leaps, swirling galaxies, and zero-gravity-inspired phrases. Wednesday "Swan Lake": ages 4-7 With its sweeping melodies and dramatic turns, Swan Lake offers a launchpad for expressive movement, winged costumes, and storytelling that blurs the line between ballet and fantasy. Thursday "In the Hall of the Mountain King": ages 4-7 This day’s camp brings theatricality and suspense to the studio. Inspired by trolls, caves, and curious climbers, dancers explore repetition, dynamics, and surprise as they craft bold movement stories and eerie designs. Friday "The Four Seasons": ages 4-7 Vivaldi’s iconic suite comes to life as campers embody the moods and motifs of each season—exploring tempo, texture, and transformation through shifting movement styles and elemental imagery. |
