​Workshop Description: The Nutcracker in a Nutshell
Rehearsals: Mondays, November 10 - January 19 (with no classes Dec 15, 22, & 29)
Make-up Week & Preview Classes for Next Workshop Series: Jan 26

Step into the wonder of The Nutcracker—the timeless holiday ballet that brings toys, snowflakes, and sweets to life! In this workshop, dancers will explore the story, music, and characters of the beloved classic while creating their own interpretations through age-appropriate technique and creative movement. Workshop fees for this workshop include in-person meetings only.  Dancers can choose to assemble their own costumes for this workshop or, for an extra $85, purchase a performance package that includes a costume to keep. Additional workshop tickets will be available separately at $15 for adults and $5 for kids ages 2-18.


Toddlers 0–4: My Dancer & Me
Our youngest dancers and their grown-ups will join the festivities with music, props, and playful movement inspired by the grand party scene. Together, we’ll march like toy soldiers, twirl like snowflakes, and bring the magic of the holidays to life through imagination, rhythm, and dance discovery.

Ages 6–8:
Dancers will begin with a ballet-based warm-up to build coordination, rhythm, and expression before diving into The Nutcracker’s most iconic moments. We’ll imagine ourselves at the grand party, battle mischievous mice, and travel through swirling snow to the Land of the Sweets—learning choreography and creating new twists along the way. Workshops run Mondays 4:15 - 5:00

Ages 8+: 
Older dancers will blend ballet fundamentals with principles of modern dance to deepen their technique and storytelling. From the bravery of the soldiers to the sparkle of snowflakes and the grandeur of the sweets, they’ll explore how character, quality, and style shape performance. Through improvisation and creative composition, dancers will develop their own interpretations of these beloved scenes. Workshops run Mondays 5:15 - 6:15
