SUMMER DANCE IMMERSION CAMPS
in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn
Matt Carr Photography
Every child is a dancer, and during the summer, our studio becomes a gymnasium for young artists of all types.
For each camp, students are divided into two class sections by age and ability (making summer dance immersions accessible for both new and experienced dancers) as we rehearse, explore, and create in preparation for the end-of-camp showcase for parents. We make full use of our spacious indoor/outdoor facility, always dancing indoors while snacks, lunch, and design projects take place outdoors on our back patio. Daily technique classes develop strength, flexibility, and coordination while we dive deep into more familiar dance styles and experiment with new ones. No matter their background or experience, each child leaps ahead, one step at a time.
In addition to daily classes and rehearsals in the style of each week's theme, campers enjoy daily dance history through film, stretching their creative chops and problem solving skills through set, prop, and costume design projects, and exploring theme specific activities like singing, acting, and dance composition. Camps each year follow an overarching theme to tie learning together and so that every iteration of our most popular camps is new and different. This year, we'll be exploring inspiration--where it comes from, how to follow it, and where it leads--using iconic works and choreographers across both performance and social-based dance styles as illustrations to fuel our own inspiration.
